Marianne Brandt is a designer inspiration to me. She was a student of the Bauhaus. Brandt's designs household objects are amongt the best of the Bauhaus. In December 2007, one of her teapots —the Model No. MT49 tea infuser— was sold for a record-breaking $361,000. I learnt about Brandt watching a Bauhaus video series.
It may simple now, but all the modern, easily mass produced items she created are what we have for ease and modern design in our every day life now.
On another wavelength of imspiration, Brandt is also remembered as a pioneering photographer. She created experimental still-life compositions, but it is her series of self-portraits which are particularly striking - which is the main image of this article!
